As well as the
vintage look, I’ve always been obsessed with the New England/Hamptons interior
look.
You know the one – whitewashed wooden floors; large wrap-around verandahs; a big sweeping tree out
front; swing hanging off said tree; high ceilings; artistic
cornices; bright, colourful, modern soft furnishings matched
with traditional heirlooms.
It's the look of perpetual, relaxed, lazy summer holidays with a jug of Pimm's.
Then the
Revenge television show started last year (how odd to say that about my friend 2012) and
my obsession became worse. While everyone was watching for the character plots
and back stabbing, I was sitting there taking mental photos of how the homes
were decorated.
It’s with
this in mind that I was excited to stumble across Hamptons Home Living in
Paddington - at the top of180 Latrobe Terrace.
Hamptons
Home Living is a combined homewares store and café. The shop is a converted
beautiful old Queenslander with glorious views from the verandah that sweep across the Brisbane city skyline.

This
place screams Hampton style…I can actually imagine Victoria Grayson swanning in
and sitting at one of the large overstuffed couches and bossing her minions
around.
This store is just beautiful. And when you've finished browsing, you can stay for a coffee or cake if you can score a seat on the verandah – but get there early as these seats do go
early.
If you can't find a space on the verandah, they have very funky long Italian lunch tables where you can sit among
all the cool set.
It’s certainly worth a look, even for the Grayson spotting.
